Choral
I wrote Der Lempl, a Yiddish lullaby for women's vocal quartet, which was performed at the YIVO Summer Program Siyyum in July 2013. The Maker of Light is the first in a suite of three songs I wrote for children's choir, for use in Junior Congregation, or for concert performance. The other songs in this suite are Thank You, and Hashkiveinu. The Maker of Light was selected by the Shalshelet Festival of New Jewish Liturgical Music for performance and publication in 2013. Here's a demo recording I made:
I presented my choral setting of the JTS Mission Statement at the JTS Purim Se'udah 2012.

I wrote Monsieur, ma Soeur for my dear friend Emily-Rose Sarkova in 2008:
I wrote Who has the Force? for the fabulous Ella Roessler-Holgate. This recording is from the 60 SECS CD made in 2008. Unfortunately I don't know the singer's name:
This is a Composition (2007)
Chris Williams and I created a surround-sound electroacoustic masterpiece that's probably funnier if you have struggled with electroacoustic composition and can laugh at the in-jokes. Since it's formatted as an Audio DVD, I can't upload it to this website. Apologies! |
Instrumental
I wrote Genie in a Cup for the Nexas Saxophone Quartet in 2010. Here are some excerpts: Pheryz was performed by Nan Heo, Ting Lee and Rachel Miller in 2009:
Time Flies for 5 percussionists, performed by members of the Sydney Eclectic Composers Society, 2009. It's a Bass Instrument for solo bass clarinet, recorded on 60 SECS CD, 2008. I Write Melodies And I'm Proud Of It, for clarinet and piano, performed by SCM students in June 2008. |
I wrote a few pieces for The Con for Dummies: Conservatorium of Music Student Revue 2009. Here's Someone Put a Pigeon in the Microwave: |
Theatrical/Dramatic Works
I wrote a one-act opera (Hansel und Gretel) in 2009. A three-minute section from this opera was workshopped and performed by SCM students in November 2009. Titled Dem Hexenwald, it's a scene where the children are scared and lost in the woods. |
Phantasmorgy, a work of performance art presented by Peter Anthony Smith (bass clarinet, voice) and Jack Symonds (bass clarinet, piano, voice) in 2009. I wrote a one-act absurdist play, The Original Sin, which was produced at the Ensemble Theatre as part of Page to Stage 2004, and published by Currency Press. Braided Loyalty, a one-act musical for which I wrote the music, lyrics and book, was produced at the Ensemble Theatre as part of Page to Stage 2003, and published by Currency Press. |
